Fabian Williams - The Occasional Superstar - began his adventures in illustration when he took pencil to paper to copy the detailed drawings of the characters in his comic books. In his reimagining of Black icons as Marvel superheroes, he took a play on the words of the title of The Fire Next Time, delivering James Baldwin as the Human Torch. With his blistering critique of America and the treatment of the country’s most creative and denied inhabitants, Black people, Baldwin appears as if his words were the flaming truth engulfing him in righteous indignation and fury.
